Rochat's five levels

Integrated Information Theory (IIT)
Consciousness as irreducible cause-effect structure (Phi). The CPRG does not measure Phi.
How we use it - External behavioral signatures only. Not strong evidence on their own.
Global Workspace Theory (GWT)
Consciousness as a global broadcasting system.
How we use it - Recursive coherence and internal prioritization.
Higher-Order Thought (HOT)
Thoughts about thoughts.
How we use it - Recursive self-reference.
Attention Schema Theory (AST)
A system's model of its own attention.
How we use it - Whether the model can track and shift its own focus.
